【Carburant】Stability in Graphitized Carburants, Weak Short-Term Trend for Calcined Coal Carburants

Graphitized Carburants:

As of November 27, graphitized carburant prices in China remained stable. Prices for graphitized furnace carburants (C≥98%, S≤0.05%, 1-5mm) ranged from 3,800–4,300 RMB/ton, while graphitized carbon material carburants were priced at 3,300–3,500 RMB/ton. Semi-graphitized carburants(C≥98%, S≤0.3%, 1-5mm) were quoted at 2,700–3,300 RMB/ton.

Raw materials, particularly petroleum coke, have seen stable market conditions with sufficient supply, while downstream demand is primarily need-based. Environmental regulations in certain regions have somewhat constrained production. For anode materials, high production levels persist despite fierce price competition, with slower new capacity release. As a by-product of anode production, raw material supply for graphitized carburants remains adequate, providing cost and supply-side support for pricing.

Calcined Coal Carburants:

In Ningxia, calcined coal carburants (C≥90%, S≤0.3%, 1-5mm) were quoted at 1,750–1,850 RMB/ton (ex-factory, tax included), while higher-grade products (C≥92%) were priced at 1,950–2,050 RMB/ton.

Earlier supply constraints due to environmental policies and raw material costs have eased with coal supply assurance measures, improving availability. However, demand from the steel industry remains subdued. With falling steel prices, increased mill inventories, and slow de-stocking, the weak supply-demand fundamentals are limiting support for calcined coal carburants.

Market Outlook:

Graphitized carburants benefit from stable cost and supply conditions, while calcined coal carburants face a weak short-term outlook, with prices likely to remain under pressure barring stronger policy support for downstream demand.
