【Negative Electrode Materials】Continued Increase in Shipment Volume

Chinese enterprises' global market share of negative electrode materials continues to rise, exceeding 90% in 2022. China's shipment volume of negative electrode materials reached 1.433 million tons in 2022, accounting for 91.9% of the global shipment volume of 1.556 million tons. The calcined petroleum coke used for producing negative electrodes, with product specifications for your reference.This represents a year-on-year growth of 84.0% for China's negative electrode material shipment volume, marking a historical high in growth rate.  

Looking ahead, driven by the demand for downstream lithium-ion batteries, the global shipment volume of negative electrode materials is expected to reach 3.317 million tons in 2025 and 8.634 million tons in 2030, with over 90% of these materials produced by Chinese enterprises.

While graphite has been recognized as the ideal material for the negative electrode in lithium-ion batteries, its capacity is approaching the theoretical limit, limiting further development of high-performance lithium-ion batteries.
