【Needle Coke】China's Needle Coke Import 

and Export Data for January-February 2024

1. Petroleum-based Needle Coke

According to customs data, China imported 21,000 tons of petroleum-based needle coke in January 2024 and 4,600 tons in February 2024. The total import volume of petroleum-based needle coke in January-February 2024 was 25,700 tons, a year-on-year increase of 27.12%.The main importing countries for petroleum-based needle coke in China from January to February 2024 were the United Kingdom and Japan, with import volumes of 7,500 tons and 900 tons respectively. Needle coke as raw material,  the ultra-high power graphite electrodes are widely used for electric furnace steel smelting. China exported approximately 5,700 tons of petroleum-based needle coke from January to February 2024.

2. Coal-based Needle Coke

According to customs data, China imported 7,500 tons of coal-based needle coke in January 2024 and 7,500 tons in February 2024. The total import volume of coal-based needle coke in China for January-February 2024 was 15,000 tons, a decrease of 14.50% compared to the same period last year. The main importing countries for coal-based needle coke in China from January to February 2024 were South Korea and Japan, with import volumes of 9,700 tons and 5,300 tons respectively. Follow us for more information on the needle coke market.
