【Graphitized Coke Carburant】Prices Weakly Stable

Market Overview

On April 9th, the mainstream market price of graphitized coke carburants in China declined, with a reference price of 4100 yuan/ton, down 200 yuan/ton from the previous working day, a decrease of 4.65%. Downstream demand was mediocre, with stable operation in the negative electrode sector, increased production of carburants, and an oversupply in the market. Consequently, prices weakened, with average sales by enterprises and some offering discounts, resulting in lower prices. The mainstream prices of domestic graphitized carburants (C ≥ 98%, S ≤ 0.05%, particle size: 1-5mm) range from 4000 to 4200 yuan/ton; while semi-graphitized carburants (C ≥ 98%, S ≤ 0.3%, particle size: 1-5mm) are priced around 3500-3700 yuan/ton. 

Supply Side

Most enterprises producing graphitized coke carburants are operating normally, with some running at low capacity. Due to increased production of carburants driven by the positive trend in the negative electrode sector, the market supply is relatively good.

Upstream Market

Calcined Petroleum Coke: The market for medium and high sulfur calcined coke has slightly warmed, but downstream negative electrode and aluminum carbon enterprises continue to maintain procurement as needed, with cost support still adequate. Overall, prices for medium and high sulfur calcined coke remain stable. 

Downstream Market

Steel: Steel prices have continued to decline, leading to shrinking profits for steel companies and reduced production enthusiasm. Some steel mills have implemented shutdown maintenance plans, resulting in poor startup rates, thus providing less support for the demand for graphitized coke carburants.

Future Forecast

With raw material prices temporarily stable and mediocre downstream demand, the prices of graphitized coke carburants are expected to remain weakly stable. The mainstream prices of graphitized carburants (C ≥ 98%, S ≤ 0.05%, particle size: 1-5mm) are expected to range from 4000 to 4200 yuan/ton; while semi-graphitized carburants (C ≥ 98%, S ≤ 0.3%, particle size: 1-5mm) are expected to be priced around 3500-3700 yuan/ton. Follow us to learn more about the carburants market.
