Graphite electrode enterprises are still optimistic about the market in April

In early April, graphite electrode price in the domestic market was mainly stable, and most electrode enterprises were still optimistic about the future market.

First, raw materials price has maintained an upward trend recently. Many petroleum coke enterprises raised prices again, and the epidemic also affected the transportation of raw materials in early this month.  

Second, recently the capacity of long-process steel plants has been gradually restored. In late March, the average daily crude steel output of key steel plants increased by 5.41% month on month, and the demand for small and medium-sized ultra-high power electrodes increased (such as UHP450 mm and UHP500 mm).

Third, driven by the rising price of negative electrode materials graphitization, most graphitization processing equipment are requisitioned by negative electrode material factories, and the graphitization processing cost of graphite electrode may continue to rise. Graphite electrode cost and processing capacity are facing a certain pressure.

In addition, at the end of March, the Eurasian Economic Union announced that it would extend the anti-dumping duty on graphite electrodes from China to October 1, 2022, which is also good news for China's electrode exports.
