In 2022, China's artificial graphite products total import volume was about 27500 tons, down 2.25% year on year, and the average monthly import volume was 2293.54 tons. In February of the first half of the year, the import volume was low, only 1161.21 tons. The spot price of China's artificial graphite products fell from a high of $9500/ton to around $7300/ton. Importers were alert to the high risk, and the trading volume reduced except for long-term contracts.

In 2022, China's artificial graphite products total export volume was about 401000 tons, up 0.61% year on year, with an average monthly export volume of 33416.99 tons. In March of the first half of the year, the export volume was low, only 21911.77 tons. The spot price of China's artificial graphite products fell from a high of $9500/ton to around $7300/ton. Exporters were alert to the high risk, and the trading volume reduced except for long-term contracts.

Negative electrode materials price review

In 2022, low sulfur petroleum coke, the raw material of artificial negative graphite electrode, rose all the way up to 9000 yuan/ton, and the downstream power market demand is strong. The leading manufacturers of negative materials continued to be in full production. In the second quarter, negative material finished products were in short supply. Artificial graphite negative material manufacturers has adjusted their prices partially, and the price range is from 3000 to 7000 yuan/ton. Despite the cost pressure, they will share the pressure with battery factories. In the third quarter, the tension between supply and demand of artificial graphite negative material finished products eased to some extent.
