on Graphite Items, Not a Ban on Export

On January 18th, the Ministry of Commerce held its routine press conference. The relevant companies have obtained dual-use item export licenses. 

During the conference, a reporter asked, "According to reports, China has approved the export applications for spherical graphite materials and finished graphite negative electrode materials to major battery industry manufacturers in South Korea. This move has been welcomed by many South Korean enterprises, eliminating some of their concerns and worries. How is the current situation regarding the approval of graphite item exports?"

HeYadong emphasized that implementing export control on specific graphite items is an internationally accepted practice. To better safeguard national security and fulfill international obligations such as preventing proliferation, the Ministry of Commerce has optimized and adjusted its export control policy for graphite, which officially came into effect on December 1, 2023.
