【CISA】Steel Social Inventories Up by 900,000 Tons in Early February

In early February, the social inventories of five major steel varieties in 21 cities reached 9.56 million tons, up by 900,000 tons or 10.4% compared to the previous period, marking the fifth consecutive increase. Graphite electrode is widely used in EAF steelmaking. Compared to the beginning of the year, inventories rose by 2.27 million tons or 31.1%, while compared to the same period last year, they decreased by 3.85 million tons or 28.7%. 

In early February, inventories increased in all seven major regions. Specifically, inventory in South China increased by 250,000 tons, a 13.5% increase and the largest in terms of volume. Northeast China saw an increase of 140,000 tons, a 35.0% rise, the highest in terms of percentage. North China saw an increase of 100,000 tons, a 7.9% rise; Northwest China increased by 110,000 tons, a 15.7% rise; East China increased by 120,000 tons, a 5.1% rise; Central China increased by 70,000 tons, an 8.2% rise; and Southwest China increased by 110,000 tons, a 9.0% rise. Follow us to learn real-time information about the steel industry.
