【Overseas】RESONAC Graphite Division Announces Price Increase on All New Graphite Electrode Orders

Tokyo, Japan – In response to evolving market dynamics, the Resonac Graphite Division has announced a minimum 20% global price increase on all new orders for graphite electrodes.

Over the past two years, the graphite electrode (GE) industry has faced a significant surplus in capacity, leading to steep price declines and widespread financial losses. To address these challenges, most competitors have already announced and implemented measures to reduce capacity.

As mentioned in the recent Q2 2024 earnings call, Resonac Graphite also plans structural reforms in its graphite electrode production, with some manufacturing efforts transitioning toward producing anode materials for electric vehicle batteries (EVB). The company expects to provide further guidance on these production plans in the coming weeks.
