【Ultra-High Power Graphite Electrode】Prices Stable with Slight Upward Trend
This week, domestic ultra-high power graphite electrode prices remained stable. φ450 electrodes were quoted at 14,000 RMB/ton, and φ600 electrodes at 16,200 RMB/ton. Demand is moderate, with most market participants optimistic about price increases in mid-to-late December.
Downstream:
The average operating rate of 87 independent electric arc furnace (EAF) steel mills nationwide was 68.35%, down 1.43 percentage points from the previous week and 6.29 percentage points year-on-year. The Northwest region saw a significant decline. Among 247 steel mills, the blast furnace operating rate stood at 81.62%, down 0.31 percentage points week-on-week but up 0.76 percentage points year-on-year. Blast furnace ironmaking capacity utilization was 87.8%, down 0.73 percentage points week-on-week but up 0.17 percentage points year-on-year. Profitability of rebar production via blast furnaces showed a loss of 245.04 RMB/ton, while EAF production recorded a loss of 144.8 RMB/ton. Losses worsened for blast furnaces but eased for EAFs. Overall, operational rates declined, reducing demand for ultra-high power graphite electrodes.
Raw Materials:
Prices for Daqing petroleum coke and Yida needle coke remained stable. The anode materials market showed growing demand for low-sulfur coke, with prices trending stable to slightly stronger. Costs for ultra-high power graphite electrodes continue to trend upward, supported by firm cost pressures. In the short term, ultra-high power graphite electrode prices are expected to remain stable with a slight upward trend.
