Mysteel News: China’s ultra-high power graphite electrode price is temporarily stable

Recently, the price of UHP (ultra-high power) graphite electrode in China has been stable. As of press time, UHP graphite electrode φ450 specifications quoted 26000-27500 yuan/ton, φ600 specifications quoted 28000-30000 yuan/ton, and the transaction is general.

In terms of downstream, the average operating rate of 85 independent EAF steel plants was 60.76%, a month-on-month decrease of 2.36% and a year-on-year decrease of 21.35%. East China, South China, Central China and Northwest China showed a slight downward trend, while Northeast China showed a slight upward trend. The operating rate of 247 blast furnace steel plants was 83.83%, down 0.28% week-on-week and 3.57% year-on-year. At present, with the support of macro favorable policies, UHP graphite electrode market still has positive expectations in the later stage.

In terms of raw materials, the current prices of low sulfur coke, needle coke and coal tar pitch remain stable. With the support of macro positive and raw material cost,  graphite electrode manufacturers’ quotations are still strong.
