I. Qualitative Analysis of Sample Production Trends

From March 31 to April 6, 2023, the total production of petroleum coke in China was 571,100 tons, an increase of 1,200 tons or 0.21% compared to the previous week. The main reason for the increase is that some refineries increased production slightly due to delayed coking units during this period. The production of petroleum coke increased during this period. 

II. Sample Production Trend Forecast Analysis

According to data survey, in the next period, Urumqi Petrochemical's 1.9 million tons/year delayed coking unit and United Petrochemical's 2.3 million tons/year delayed coking unit will undergo maintenance, while Gaoqiao Petrochemical's 1.2 million tons/year delayed coking unit, HSBC Petrochemical's 1.4 million tons/year delayed coking unit, and Fangyu Petrochemical's 1.4 million tons/year delayed coking unit will resume production. It is estimated that the domestic production of petroleum coke will increase to around 575,000 tons in the next period.

III. Comparison of Sample Production and Product Prices

China's petroleum coke sample production increased by 0.21% week-on-week. Currently, the sample production is at the median since 2022, and the short-term increase in refinery production has a certain bearish impact on petroleum coke prices.
