【Graphite Electrode】 Export Trends in June: UAE Shines, Saudi Market Surges

According to customs data, in June 2024, China's graphite electrode export volume reached 24,900 tons, a month-on-month increase of 5.20% and a year-on-year increase of 7.71%, indicating a positive recovery trend. From January to June 2024, China's graphite electrode export volume was 151,900 tons, a year-on-year increase of 0.73%.

In terms of export destinations, Russia, the UAE, and Malaysia were the top three destinations for Chinese graphite electrodes. Among them, the export volume to Russia was 1,940 tons, a month-on-month increase of 15.18%, maintaining its leading position; the export volume to the UAE was 1,820 tons, a month-on-month increase of 893.9%, showing explosive growth. Previously, Fangda Carbon secured a multi-million yuan order from a UAE steel company, ensuring the overall stability of graphite electrode exports. The export volume to Malaysia was 1,400 tons, a slight month-on-month decrease of 1.79%, but it remains one of the key export destinations.

Notably, the Saudi Arabian market surged this month, with China's graphite electrode exports reaching 890 tons, a month-on-month increase of 1046.94%. This not only set a historical record but also indicated a gradually releasing strong demand for Chinese graphite electrodes in Saudi Arabia. This change is likely driven by multiple factors, including the rapid development of Saudi domestic industry and infrastructure construction, providing new opportunities for Chinese graphite electrode exporters. However, against the backdrop of overall positive growth, the Japanese market declined again due to the impact of anti-dumping policies, with China's graphite electrode export volume to Japan falling by 3.28% month-on-month in June.
