【Graphite Electrode】Exports Decline in July with Both YoY and MoM Drops
According to customs data, China's graphite electrode exports in July 2024 amounted to 18,300 tons, a decrease of 26.25% month-on-month (MoM) and 30.24% year-on-year (YoY). This figure marks not only the lowest monthly export volume this year but also the lowest in the past four years. The decline is mainly attributed to two factors: a significant drop in overseas demand and adjustments in trade policies in some foreign countries. From January to July 2024, China's total graphite electrode exports were 170,300 tons, down 3.86% YoY.
Regarding export destinations, Russia, Taiwan, and South Africa were the top three destinations for China's graphite electrode exports. Exports to Russia were 1,200 tons, down 37.96% MoM; exports to Taiwan were 1,000 tons, down 2.35% MoM; and exports to South Africa were 960 tons, up 36.49% MoM. Additionally, Vietnam showed a relatively strong performance this month, with China's graphite electrode exports to Vietnam reaching 960 tons, up 42.21% MoM.
