Basic Tasks of Electric Arc Furnace Steelmaking

The basic tasks of EAF (electric arc furnace) steelmaking, especially EAF for scrap steelmaking, are as follows, ggraphite electrode for electric arc furnace, smelting by electric arc power generation, meets the requirements of carbon neutral policy development. 


(1) To melt scrap steel and adjust the temperature of molten steel, the first step is to heat and melt scrap steel and adjust the temperature to meet the requirements of hydrogenation, reduction and other tasks on the temperature of molten steel.

(2) Dephosphorization, reducing the harmful impurity phosphorus in the molten steel to the specification range of the steel grade.

(3) Decarburization, reducing the carbon oxidation in the molten steel to the specification range of the steel grade.

(4) Deoxygenation, removing the excessive oxygen harmful to the steel during the oxidation smelting process from the molten steel.

(5) Desulfurization, reducing the harmful impurity sulfur in molten steel to the specification range of the steel grade.

(6) Adjust the composition, add alloy elements, and adjust the content of various alloy elements in molten steel to the specification range of the smelting number.

(7) Remove harmful gases and non-metallic inclusions, and use carbon and oxygen reaction to remove those harmful gases and metal inclusions that enter and generate from molten steel during smelting.

The basic tasks of EAF steelmaking can be summarized as follows:

"Four removal" (dephosphorization, decarburization, deoxygenation and desulfurization), "two eliminate" (elimination of gases and inclusions), and "two adjustment" (composition and temperature adjustment).
