Low-sulfur petroleum coke shipments performed well around the Spring Festival, and the overall market inventory decreased

In January, low sulfur petroleum coke market improved after the Spring Festival. After the festival, downstream enterprises replenished goods at low prices, and refineries inventory gradually decreased. However, the improvement space of downstream demand was limited, and the entire market has not recovered significantly. As of the end of this month, refineries' petroleum coke prices were as follows:

Daqing Petrochemical 1#A price was 5600 yuan/ton; Fushun Petrochemical 1# price was 5600 yuan/ton; Dagang Petrochemical 1#A price was 5160 yuan/ton; Jinxi Petrochemical 1#B price was 4800 yuan/ton; Jinzhou Petrochemical 1#B price was 4700 yuan/ton; Huizhou Petrochemical 1#B price was 4500 yuan/ton. At the end of the month, refineries' inventory remained low, refineries strongly hope to raise low-sulfur coke price, while the prices are expected to be slightly reduced.

In terms of low-sulfur calcined petroleum coke, the transaction was stable in January, manufacturer's inventory was low. After the festival, downstream enterprises actively purchased, and the price also increased. The price range of calcined petroleum coke with Jinxi raw coke as raw material was 7400-7600 yuan/ton, and Fushun raw coke as raw material calcined petroleum coke was 8500 yuan/ton. In February, low-sulfur raw coke price is expected to rise, and  low-sulfur calcined petroleum coke market price may also rise again.

For the downstream, both the supply and demand of graphite electrode market were weak this month, steel plants' production began to decline, and graphite electrode market price fell, the UHP600 price was around 24000-25000 yuan/ton. Graphite electrode enterprises began to actively supplement low sulfur coke before the Spring Festival. Graphite electrode has a small purchase demand for raw materials, ready to purchase during the Festival.In terms of negative electrode materials, the output decreased this month due to the reduction of battery factory production and manufacturer's Spring Festival holiday. In order to ensure the normal production of manufacturers, low-sulfur coke will be replenished before and after the festival, and the inventory will be completed at the end of the month.
