1. Graphite Electrodes

According to customs data, in September 2023, China's graphite electrode exports reached 24,800 tons, showing a 0.41% increase compared to the previous month but a 10.30% decrease compared to the same period last year. From January to September 2023, China's total graphite electrode exports amounted to 249,700 tons, marking a 4.81% decrease. In September 2023, the primary export destinations for China's graphite electrodes were Turkey, Russia, and South Korea. 

2. Needle Coke

a. Petroleum-based Needle Coke

Customs data reveals that in September 2023, China's imports of petroleum-based needle coke were 1,900 tons, experiencing a 73.77% year-on-year decrease and a 92.27% decrease compared to the previous month. From January to September 2023, China's total petroleum-based needle coke imports amounted to 81,900 tons, reflecting a 2.68% decrease. In September 2023, the main importing countries for China's petroleum-based needle coke were the United Kingdom, the United States, and Japan, with import quantities of 900 tons, 600 tons, and 400 tons, respectively.

b. Coal-based Needle Coke

According to customs information, in September 2023, China imported 6,600 tons of coal-based needle coke, marking a 92.75% year-on-year increase and a 63.63% month-on-month increase. From January to September 2023, China's total coal-based needle coke imports amounted to 58,900 tons, with a marginal 0.84% decrease.
