【Graphitized Carburant】 Market Weakens Slightly Amid Steel Mill Production Cuts

From August 11 to August 17, the price of graphitized petcoke (gpc) carburant in China showed a slight decline, with some grades dropping by 100 RMB/ton. The price for furnace graphitized petcoke carburant with specifications of C≥98%, S≤0.05%, and particle size of 1-5mm ranged from 3,900 to 4,400 RMB/ton. Carbon material-based graphitized petcoke carburant was priced between 3,500 and 3,700 RMB/ton, while semi-graphitized petcoke carburant (C≥98%, S≤0.3%, particle size: 1-5mm) ranged from 2,900 to 3,500 RMB/ton. Overall, transactions were average.

The market price for calcined petcoke (cpc) carburant (S<0.5; A<0.5; VM<0.5; 1-5mm) was between 3,500 and 3,600 RMB/ton. Calcined petcoke carburant (S<0.5; A<0.5; mixed coke) was priced at 3,050-3,300 RMB/ton. Prices for 3.0% sulfur screened coke ranged from 1,950 to 2,200 RMB/ton, and for 3.5% sulfur screened coke from 1,900 to 2,100 RMB/ton. All prices listed are ex-factory and include taxes.

The recent continuous decline in steel prices and widespread production cuts and maintenance at steel mills have led to a less-than-ideal overall market transaction situation. There is currently no strong demand to support the carburant market.
