High-quality low sulfur petroleum coke price was lowered for the first time this year

Since August, low sulfur petroleum coke market trading has slowed down, the downstream anode material market has been purchased cautiously, and the downstream demand side is not well supported. Low sulfur coke as raw material, our graphite electrode products standardized full set of production line, always adhere to product quality. Since August, Daqing Petrochemical and Fushun Petrochemical have reduced the price by 300 yuan/ton to 8400 yuan/ton for two consecutive times, which is the first price reduction of high-quality low sulfur coke after the continuous increase of 55% this year.  

According to the data calculation, Daqing Petrochemical coking unit was shut down for maintenance in July, and the high-quality and low sulfur petroleum coke resources' supply was reduced by about 10000 tons. As of the early August, Fushun Petrochemical 1#A petroleum coke still had 5000 tons of inventory for sale. It can be seen that high-quality low sulfur coke price was stable at 9000 yuan/ton in July, mainly because the overall supply of high-quality low sulfur coke resources decreased.

However, recently the anode materials market price shows a loosening sign, and anode materials profit pressure will also be transmitted to the upstream coke raw materials. According to the current market situation, low sulfur petroleum coke price is still in a relatively high level. Influenced by the mentality of buy when the prices are going up instead of going down, the downstream will maintain a wait-and-see attitude. In August there is still a slight downward exploration range of high-quality low sulfur coke. For more reports on the carbon market, please contact us.
