【Popular Science】Differences Between Graphitized Petroleum Coke Carburant and Calcined Petroleum Coke Carburant
Many manufacturers may have some confusion about the types of carburants when purchasing, so today, let's take a look at the differences between calcined petroleum coke carburant (cpc) and graphitized petroleum coke carburant (gpc).
I. Raw Material:
(1) Graphitized petroleum coke carburant is derived from raw petroleum coke.
(2) Calcined petroleum coke carburant is also derived from raw petroleum coke.
II. Casting Environment:
(1) Graphitized petroleum coke carburant is used in a graphitization melting furnace at temperatures around 3000 degrees.
(2) Calcined petroleum coke carburant is forged at temperatures around 1500 degrees and used in smelting furnaces.
III. Fixed Carbon Content:
Graphitized petroleum coke carburant typically has a fixed carbon content of around 98%, with some reaching up to 99%.
Calcined petroleum coke carburant generally has a fixed carbon content of around 98%.
IV. Sulfur Content:
(1) Graphitized petroleum coke carburant typically has a sulfur content ranging from 0.03% to 0.06%, with the majority around 0.05%. Absorption rates are generally between 90% and 95%.
(2) Calcined petroleum coke carburant typically has a sulfur content of around 0.5%. Absorption rates are generally between 80% and 90%.
V. Melting Time:
The melting time of graphitized petroleum coke carburant is longer than that of calcined petroleum coke carburant, resulting in fewer impurities in the former.
In summary, both types of carburants serve the same purpose of increasing carbon content. However, different manufacturers may have varying requirements for carbon content. Therefore, the choice of carburant types may differ. Although the price of graphitized petroleum coke carburant is higher than that of calcined petroleum coke carburant, considering the overall usage cost, choosing graphitized petroleum coke carburant is more economical. As a result, many steel foundries are gradually favoring the purchase of graphitized petroleum coke carburants. For more information on carburant products, feel free to contact us anytime.
