Multiple positive, graphite electrode price increase

Recently, graphite electrode price has been raised. By February 16, 2022, the average price of graphite electrode market in China was 20,818 yuan/ton, up 5.17% from the beginning of the year and 44.48% from the same period last year. The main influencing factors of the graphite electrode market price rise are analyzed as follows:

The negative electrode material market has a good trading performance, which has a certain support for the price of low sulfur petroleum coke, needle coke and graphitization price, and occupies part of the graphitization capacity of graphite electrode, limiting the production of some non-full process graphite electrode enterprises to a certain extent.

3. Graphite electrode enterprises in Henan, Hebei, Shanxi, Shandong and other regions are subject to environmental protection control of the Winter Olympic Games. Enterprises are greatly affected by production restriction. Some enterprises have stopped production, and production is basically expected to resume at the end of February or early March. The overall operation of the graphite electrode market is insufficient, and the supply of some specifications of graphite electrodes has been significantly tight.

4. The graphite electrode downstream steel plants are in recovery state, and before the Spring Festival by the Winter Olympics and crude steel production reduction and other factors, the graphite electrode stock is insufficient compared with previous years. With steel plants resumption, graphite electrode demand is better.
